Walk through the Subway
Turnstile Slowly
Admit it! You don't have an important meeting with the President of
CBS. Nor are you meeting a movie star for lunch. (Even if you did, it
would be better to arrive at the meeting clam and refreshed, instead
of red-faced and sweaty.) Yet, you're still racing down the subway steps.
What would happen, if, for once, you walked slowly, impeccably slowly,
through the turnstile?
If you're in the habit of running
down the subway steps, a sluggish stride will not be easy. As you approach
the station, imagine a flashing red light. Slow down. You might even
repeat to yourself, "I'm going
to walk calmly." "I'm going to dawdle and linger." "I'm
going to creep."
As you get closer to the station,
you see a swarm of humanity pushing and shoving into the station…
